Big Thicket National Preserve


Our first stop is the Big Thicket National Preserve located at Kountze, a city in Hardin County just North East of Houston.


Big Thicket offers a primitive camping experience there are no developed campgrounds or designated campsites in the preserve. You must bring all of your supplies with you and be willing to hike in a minimum of 200 feet from your vehicle. If you're paddling, you'll need to be able to carry all of your camping supplies in your boat.


Exciting right? it could be the perfect place where you can teach your kids some life skills! 


The National Preserve offers a 24 hour fishing ground and allows hunting, as long as you have all the necessary permits and follow law mandated regulations. 


you can also do hiking, biking, and paddling!


Before visiting this place make sure you have a tent that is easy to set up. 

Padre Island National Seashore


Often confused with South Padre Island. Padre Island National Seashore is 70 miles of undeveloped beach and natural habitat which separates the Gulf of Mexico from the Laguna Madre, one of a few hypersaline lagoons in the world


there are five camping grounds in this place, Malaquite Campground, Bird Island Basin, South Beach, North Beach and 

Yarborough Pass.


It is important to know that only Malaquite Campground offers semi-primitive camping, others are all primitive.

If you visit mid-June to August there's a high chance that you'll get to witness how turtle hatchlings are released to the sea!

The massive pink granite dome rising above Central Texas has drawn people for thousands of years. But there’s more at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area than just the dome. The scenery, rock formations and legends are magical, too!


Drinkable water is not available at every campsite so it would be wise to bring your own water or a portable water purifier.


Other things to enjoy at the Enchanted Rock is rock climbing, bouldering and Star Gazing

Located on a section of the Guadalupe River in Kendall and Comal Counties, northwest of Bulverde, Texas.


Guadalupe River State Park is a place where you can bring the whole family, its best feature is its river that courses over four natural rapids. 


The state park is home to oak trees and juniper woodlands, if you are lucky enough you might see a Golden-Cheeked Warbler resting on some of these trees. 


This State Park has 3 campsites Turkey Sink, Cedar Sage and Wagon Ford Campground all has access to water, while Turkey Sink and Cedar Sage has electricity.
